Morning River Walk

Instead of skating today, I walked along the River Trail with my camera. There’s been this tree turning orange for the past couple weeks, and I’ve wanted to take its picture. Plus, recent rains have caused the Arkansas River to be much higher than normal.

A Princess Dances and a Butterfly Lands

Saturday evening, a storm blew in just as we were about to leave to go to a park. So we stayed home and I shot some pictures using the tripod. At one point, a small butterfly decided to perch on my cheek. Davis took that picture.

The wind was quite gusty

A vortex of evil formed over our neighbors and sucked them in...or tried to...they're fine now...

That New Thing in Jenks

We went down to the new shopping center in Jenks, located by the river at the 93rd Street Bridge. The light was gorgeous when we got there, but it was late evening, so it faded pretty fast.

Duck Fair

Davis’s 2H Waddling Duck won first place in the youth open class handmade item division at the Tulsa County Fair. And since we were there, I snapped off a few pics of Bell’s Amusement Park.

No Swans, Some Ducks, One Heron

“Let’s go some place photogenic,” I said. So we went to Tulsa’s Swan Lake Park. No swans, but lots of ducks and one heron. Before we left, Davis took some more pics out back, including one of Serene with her mouth full.

OK, Mom, I'm smiling

Look! It's another distraction!

Black and White Panoramas

Decided to try my hand at some black & white conversion. I think this is one area where full blown Photoshop probably would be handy, rather than just PS Elements. Still, it’s another aspect I expect will improve only with practice.

Tulsa Downtown and Cemetary

There’s a very old cemetary outside of downtown Tulsa. Well, “very old” is a relative thing. There are headstones with dates going back over a century. For Oklahoma, that’s pretty old. Something about viewing the downtown skyscrapers across the fields of headstones has been catching my eye lately. I finally had an opportunity to shoot some pictures there this morning.

Flowers and Night Shots

Filed under: Tulsa — DavidRM @ 11:10 pm

Yesterday, Davis took some pictures of the flowers he & Susan planted this year. Tonight, we stopped at a couple parks after dark, hunting for fireflies. I had the camera and tripod with me and tried some long exposure night shots.

Zoo Friends

Saturday afternoon we carpooled with the grandparents to the Tulsa Zoo. Susan has a “Zoo Friends” membership, and she and the kids have been to the zoo several times already this summer. This was my first visit since probably 2003. Grandma said that in 20 years in Tulsa, she didn’t think she’d ever been to the zoo.
